You’ve just stepped outside in your t-shirt and jeans, looking forward to starting that Summer morning..oh wait no it’s Autumn. It’s getting cold, you can’t keep denying it, which means if you want to look stylish and comfy, then you’re going to have to get yourself a new wardrobe. Or perhaps a whole range of new jumpers?
When you think about styling a jumper, you probably think to yourself, “How am I meant to style a jumper? I just throw it on and that’s done?” – Well, yes, you can just throw it on and go off on your way..but there’s a lot to think about in terms of accompanying clothing and colours that will ensure you don’t look like you’ve just got out of bed.
The first style consists of wearing a black jumper/sweater with some black joggers to match. This kind of style is perfect for the gym, heading down to the shops or even running errands. It’s one of the comfiest styles that you can go for when wearing a jumper and matching both your top half and bottom half means it won’t look like you’ve just thrown clothing on! We’d suggest getting yourself a pair of black hi-tops or converse trainers to finish the look.
Wearing a jacket with a jumper is risky business and is often pulled off badly, however if you follow these tips you’ll be looking fly. When picking out the perfect combination, you’re going to want to make sure that the jumper and jacket are either both of dark tones or light tones. A clash of a black jacket and light blue jumper just doesn’t work.
On top of that, we suggest making sure that the jacket is as basic as can-be..no fancy zips, graphics or styles. Leave this to the jumper. The jumper should either be worn with a pattern or just plain, otherwise there’s just too much going on.
Sometimes wearing a jumper on its own is the simplest but most stylish way. The problem is, wearing a jumper on it’s own won’t help combat the cold and layering up can make you seem bulky and looks loose fitting.
Having a plain long-line tee under a crew-neck jumper is the perfect casual look that is subtly stylish. You can use pale tone tees under some light knitwear for those Saturday afternoons of those Sunday mornings.
Key Style Tips:
- Don’t try layering up with a v-neck jumper, the t-shirt underneath won’t benefit the style of the jumper and will end up looking too baggy.
- Footwear is key, if you’re co-ordinating colours then we suggest wearing trainers, but if you’re looking for a slightly smarter look then put on some heavy boots and tight jeans.
- Try not to over do it. Sometimes going simple is better..walking into a room wearing bright graphics and a whole loads of colours is just too much.
